Comments I first went diving with SPLASH Dive Center (located on the grounds of the Palau Pacific Resort) when I came to Palau in 1997. It was my first big dive trip, and Jackson, Steven, Sherlock, and the staff of SPLASH made that trip one of the most memorable of my life. Palau was amazing back then - sharks, rays, tuna, and groupers on every dive, and I am absolutely thrilled to report that Palau is STILL incredible in 2018. In fact, I saw far more turtles and mantas on this trip than I ever saw on my previous five trips.

As mentioned above, 2018 marked my 6th trip to Palau, and I was thrilled to see that Jackson, Steven, and Sherlock are still working at SPLASH, as are the other wonderful members of the staff (it says a lot about the excellence of the dive operation). Over the years, I have gone with Sam's, Fish 'n Fins, and others, but SPLASH is by far the best dive operation. Jackson and Steven are incredible dive guides who have been diving Palau's amazing sites for decades (unlike many dive leaders and dive masters from other companies who stay in Palau for only a year or two and then move one). They know the dive sites and the currents like the back of their hands. I would follow each of them anywhere, and they are extremely kind and super-helpful.

It should be noted that SPLASH also has a much better and larger boat than the other companies. With other operators, I was one of twelve or thirteen divers on a smaller, cramped boat.

In addition, SPLASH staff do everything for you, including changing your tanks between dives. Staff also take your gear on and off the boat at the beginning and end of the day - no miserable crates to carry.

Overall, this is by far the best dive shop in Palau, and while many other operators are bigger, better publicized, and are a few dollars cheaper, none deliver like SPLASH at the Palau Pacific.

As for the diving, turtles and mantas were abundant. The ocean was very warm on this trip, and currents and sea conditions were light and calm; therefore, we did not have the usual, high-thrill, reef-hook dives at Blue Corner. However, dropping down to 100-120 feet, I could see an impressive slew of grey reef sharks circling in the slightly colder water. In conclusion, the type of action might have been a little different on this Palau trip; however, the same incredible and varied cast of characters were there and visible to SPLASH's happy divers.
