Comments In a word: WONDERFUL!
The staff, the boat, the diving- all really exquisite and it's easy to see why this is one of the world's premier dive locations. This is my 3rd time back to Palau and the 2nd live-aboard I've been on there. The Peter Hughes' Tropic Dancer is a beautiful boat that leaves you wanting for little. The boat was in excellent shape- staterooms were very comfortable with large queen-size beds and in-room bathrooms with showers. The showers were actually quite strong and there was plenty of hot water, even with a full complement of passengers. There were 16 of us in mid-July and we took advantage of the Dive-the-World pricing, which is a great discount.
The diving- phenomenal! The underwater visibility is 60- 120 feet and this time the currents, while swift, were not as strong as I have experienced previously. The corals were all beautiful, having recovered from the El-Nino affected warmer water temps I saw previously. Lots of sharks and Napoleon Wrasse abound in the waters around Palau. I was diving with a number of newbie divers and the staff was really attentive to their needs and yet they left the more experienced divers unrestricted to dive their own profiles.
The Crew-
Captain Ike- what a nice man! And a Captain who doesn't isolate himself from the rest of the crew and passengers. He jumps right in from serving meals, to cleaning up with the rest of the crew, to leading dives. A real hands-on guy who sincerely cares for his divers.
Photo-Pro Ben Clark- More enthusiasm than one would ever expect. A true photo professional who produced a beautiful video of the week's diving. He was a lot of fun to watch on the reefs- pointing out small critters to actually playing with his friend, a large Napoleon Wrasse who he literally took under his wing!
Dive Master Nadia- A delightful young woman from Belize who is out living her dream diving the world. Very attentive, extremely helpful and as hard a worker as you'll ever meet. She lead divers in swift currents to a lazy dive in Jellyfish Lake.
The Chef- Cameron- a talented chef who is quick to please even the most finicky (mine) palette. He could whip up gourmet delights as well as prepare a substitute main entree that made me wonder if the other guest were licking their fingers like I was. He also made a birthday cake up for the two divers whose birthdays were lucky enough to fall in that week. I was one and it certainly was a wonderful surprise.

I usually can be extremely critical of a dive operator or Liveaboard, but this operation was flaw-free. Excellently run, I would recommend this boat to everyone.
