Comments Planned this dive trip to Palau for 18 months with another dive couple. Trip was long (22 hours of flight time from Atlanta, Ga), but the diving was incredible. We broke up the flight by staying in Honolulu overnight - recommend this highly! The Peter Hughes' Tropic Dancer boat was spacious, food was awesome, service top notch, and the dive operations world class. Great in-depth briefings on every dive with graphics, rode twin engine skiff to dive sites from mother boat. We dove the infamous Blue Corner, Uulong Channel, West Wall, German Channel, Turtle Cove, Blue Holes, New Drop Off, 2 wrecks in the lagoon, Pelilieu Express, Chandelier Caves, Coral Gardens, and snokeled Jellyfish Lake. Also took nice land tour of Pelilieu Island to view WWII relics and memorials - very sobering.
This is not a trip for novice divers as the currents are strong and bouyancy control a must. Dive masters allowed everyone in our group to dive their own profiles as long as the 110' depth and 60-minutes were not violated. This trip is expensive, but we will go back again as the diving in Palau is world class. Tons of sharks, turtles, Wrasses, Rays, Eels, even saw a Leopard Shark, a very large Marble Ray, and Cuttle Fish on this trip. We dove Blue Corner four times at our request as the sea life and sharks were everywhere. Felt like we were diving in an aquarium - unbelievable. Reef Hooks are a blast! The only downfall from this trip is that it may have ruined Carribbean diving for us. We were blown away. Thanks to the Tropic Dancer Crew - Capt Mark, Eng Hector, Addi, Nadia, Ben (dive masters) and the awesome cook - Doug! If you are serious about diving - make this trip and do it on a Liveaboard - you will remember it for the rest of your life! Bring lots of batteries and storage for your cameras - you will need it!

UW Photo Comments Staff on Tropic Dancer take great care with everyone's camera/video equipment - rinse tanks, recharging stations, and advice if asked - including best lens to take on dive, what sites to stage shots, etc.
