Comments The Good: It was GOOD that I decided to do two weeks "back-to-back", as the travel time and cost of air travel to Palau was considerable. Each week was different from the other, including some of the dive sites. 3/4's of the crew changed between the two weeks (due to vacations, etc.), and each were excellent in their own way. The weather the first week was gray, choppy, and with occassional showers; while the second week was blue sky, blue water, and calm seas. I was able to log 44 dives during the two weeks (11 days of total diving), missing only three dives the first week, and one the second week. The food was excellent both weeks, thanks to Chef Scott. The accommodations were spotless and kept that way all week, and watching the crew clean the ENTIRE boat on Sunday between groups wore me out! We had several great channel dives, some reef hook-in dives to watch the reef sharks (plenty of action from those guys), several gorgeous wall dives, and some really nice finds on a few night dives. All of the crew, both weeks, were very friendly and most were helpful on locating critters on the dives.

The Bad: On one dive, two divers in our group, who were taking u/w photos, pinned a small turtle against a wall, allowing it no escape. They kept their lenses less than 18 inches from this little guy for over five mins of filming. I couldn't watch this intrusive behavior continue, so I motioned to one of the divemasters to stop them. The divemaster did nothing, just shrugged his shoulder at me. How infuriating! And after the dive, no one mentioned what had happened to me. Also, on one night dive I was buddied with one of the divemasters, and he ditched me...just left me alone and returned to the skiff, without any communication before he left. I let him know I was miffed, when I returned with another couple I found, who I then finished the dive with.

What do I wish I had known before I left home: Nothing much, except that it is a really, really long way to travel for only a one week trip, and I was SO Happy that I had stretched it into two weeks.
