Comments Manta Ray Bay is a beautiful modern resort. It has an infinity pool. The owner is very hands on,and,is obviously interested in successfully marketing his property. He has done a great job with staff development. The restaurant is in an attached remodeled sailing ship. Pleasant ambiance, pedestrian menu. There are other places to eat in the neighborhood.Don't go to Yap for the cuisine. There is a micro brewery on site. The rooms are beautiful. All the staff were very customer friendly, but, the dive staff were exceptional.Great guys, very capable.
OK,the diving. We arrived and told the head diver that we were not interested in looking for Mantas in murky channels,we explained that we liked walls, live corals, clear waters and lots of fish.We got our wish. Beautiful walls,a lot of corals were damaged by a typhoon a few years ago, but, there is a lot of encouraging regrowth taking place. There are certainly fishy reefs there. The best thing I saw was a very large free swimming cuttlefish. He was great!Very adequate boats. We went on 2 unsuccessful Manta hunts in the murky cuts.Other divers saw them before and after we went to these sites.I would go back to Yap,but, only as a stop on a Central Pacific trip to other sites.
