Comments This has been our 8th trip to Palau spanning just about 20 years and once again Fish'n Fins has done a super job. Usually they have a number of divers and it can be crowded at the beginning and end of the day but because it's the lull before Christmas there has not been as many divers. Nonetheless, we have been going out diving every day, with great dive guides (Robin, Troy and Hiro) who are mature, competent leaders who can handle both beginning and advanced divers. Office staff is great too, handling equipment requests and other changes without a problem.
Since several typhoons hit the eastern side of the islands three years or so, some of the dive sites there aren't as spectacular as they used to be but the "old favorites" that people come to are. At Blue Corner we saw 24 sharks (black tip and grey reef sharks) at one view, turtles are everywhere and also saw mantas at German Channel and Ulong Sand Bar.
Our dive at Ulong Sand Bar one early sunny morning was spectacular, with a manta "waiting" for us when we started, sharks all over and schools of fish surrounding us several times. Also the hard coral here is is most places incredibly healthy. Not nearly as much soft coral so the colors are more muted (compared to Fiji).
If you think you'll find small stuff or muck diving here, I think you'll be disappointed, but if you want to see larger fish, schools of fish, mantas, turtles, morays, etc. then Palau is still the place to go!
Remember that Fish'n Fins provides nitrox free so that most everyone is diving nitrox.....leads to deeper diving.
Also note that my spouse is a veteran snorkeler and she had a tremendous time with her own guide (not that she needed one).
Yesterday, even though there weren't many people at the dive shop, we went out: one diver, one snorkeler, one student (we dropped off at a beach with the instructor), one dive guide, one snorkel guide and one boat driver -- all day (3 dives)!

UW Photo Comments In general, it's a bit difficult if you have a large rig as there is not a camera room, but with transport to and from your hotel it's not a big deal. Staff are very careful with clients' camera gear.
