Comments Fantastic two week trip on the Aggressor with only 9 divers on board. Stayed at the Cliffside Hotel on the travel agents advice, a bit dated and far out of town, not on the water. I think the Sea Passion is a nicer hotel, has a snorkeling area - would choose that next time. Long travel time getting there, DEN-SFO-HNL-Guam-Palau,- no problems though. Stopover in Yap with security check where half the plane has to get off while they inspect the seats, get a seat on the right side if you can since both times the left side had to get off while we just had to switch sides for inspection. Hotel had airport pickup, arrived in middle of the night, had to wait for later passengers. Arrived day before, left night of final day at 1:45 am. Took cab to town to visit museum and to shop at the jail for a story board- well worth it if you want a unique souvenir of the trip! Currency is US dollar, English language and US postal service used here. Next door to airport is a luxury waiting lounge with Wifi, recliners, bar and snacks. Well worth $15 if you have a few hours to wait for flight after checking bags, just walk over from terminal, on the left as you walk out.

Two weeks on the boat flew by- can't imagine doing only one! Crew was fantastic, Captain Drew is the best, photo pro Johnny and DM's Ike, Jason and Marc were all great. Nice layout on the boat, hydraulic skiff lift is wonderful. We did an exploratory trip out to Velasco Reef and had some great dives, felt like pioneers- got to see a whale shark ascending on one! Soft and hard coral was incredible, diverse and healthy. Abundant fish, turtles, anenomes and clownfish, giant clams, nudibranchs. Really felt like we got to see the best of the area and revisited several favorite sites including Blue Corner several times. Being the first divers at Blue Corner in the mornings is fantastic! On one afternoon at Blue Corner we literally got overrun by a Chinese dive group, chaotic for a few minutes but since they all were wearing bandanas we got sorted out and moved away from them, annoying lack of manners. Generally cloudy and rainy weather- reef would have been more beautiful with more sunlight, but still great. Some issues with visibility due to run off at some sites. Several firsts for me, giant cuttlefish posing for photos may have been the best, manta cleaning station, several nudibranchs I've never seen, GIANT giant clams, rare fish....hard to pick. Jellyfish Lake was fun, Rock Island tour and Peleliu Island all worth seeing. Snorkeled over to the Survivor beach and explored one afternoon-I'm a fan. Highly recommend this trip- do 2 weeks if you can. Two weeks of 4+ dives a day was exhausting but excellent. All dives from skiff, dive time of 60 minutes.
