Dear Undercurrent,
In your article on the Cobalt Coast, you say it is the closest
thing to a full-scale dive resort on Grand Cayman. The Cayman
Diving Lodge is also strictly a dedicated dive resort as much as
any I have seen (boats here on property, all inclusive, etc.).
We do not mandate profiles for computer divers at all. After
showing proficiency the first day, computer divers are allowed to
dive their computers full stop. Wall and reef dives are either guided
or nonguided.
We have purchased adjacent land, which has doubled our
land size and given us another 100 feet of sandy beach frontage.
Since the purchase, we have landscaped the area with beach sand
and foliage, built thatched sunshades, and installed hammocks
and picnic tables.
We have made several substantial physical improvements in
my 3.5 years as owner, and yet our rates have remained stable.
Our rates are the only meal-included, all-inclusive dive package
rates on Grand Cayman that take the "bite" out of the high prices
found on the island. Inexpensive? For the highest level of customer
service that we provide, yes. Basic? If you are used to the
Westin, physically yes. If you are used to other boutique-style dive
resorts, definitely not.
I appreciate your publication and always enjoy reading it.
Thanks for listening.

Jim,
Thanks for correcting us. Our readers constantly report that
you offer some of the best diving on Grand Cayman for generally
the best overall prices.
