Missing Your Scop Patch?

If you are diver who suffers from mal de mer, or sea sickness (and most of have at one time or another), you were probably disappointed when the Transderm Scop (scopolamine) patches were pulled off the market in 1995. Worn behind the ear, this patch lasted three days or more and provided the most reliable prevention. It's still available in some European countries, but here in the U.S. we're awaiting its return. While the makers, CIBA Pharmaceuticals, say they are working hard on a production problem to get them back on the market, the only update on their 800 number is that instead of hoping to get back into production by the end of 1995, it's now "hoping by the end of 1997."
