Comments The Cuan Law is very spacious with owners and crew that are experienced in all of the nuances of dive travel/live aboard comfort and enjoyment. The owners meet the guests as they arrive and welcome them aboard with soft drinks, juices and snacks. The crew begins immediately to provide the care and service that the Cuan Law is known for and that the guests will enjoy for their week on board. The diving is layed back with excellent pre-dive briefings and personal help with equipment, loading on the dive tenders and excellent safety consciousness. The crew goes more than the extra mile to make sure that everyone has the experience of a life time. The more experienced divers are allowed to dive their own profiles while the new or inexperienced ones have willing and helpful crew members to show them the sights and keep an eye on them if they desire. Diving is normally three dives a day with a night dive if the vessel isn't under sail for a new anchorage. The captain, Steve, is a very experienced sailor and enjoys running up the canvas when conditions permit. Even short hauls are commonly undertaken with sail/wind power versus conventional motoring.
The rooms are among the largest I have ever experienced on a live aboard. Each room has a spacious bathroom, individual airconditioning as well as windows and hatches if anyone desires to have natural enviornmental cooling of their room.
The vessel has two small Hobie Cats for the guests to try their sailing skills with as well as three kayaks. Water skiing and knee boarding are also available and the crew is more than ready to provide any of the guests with any of the above when the vessel is at anchor.
Meals are a buffet style breakfast and lunch with never ending snacks and treats between meals. Dinner is a sit down affair with the crew both serving the guests and dining with them. The food was top quality as was the service and attitude of the galley crew.
The crew is in many ways typical of live aboards in that they were generally young and from many different countries. They brought with them the various cultures of their homes, experiences from different parts of the world and an infectious enjoyment of the live aboard life. I have been aboard many live aboards and have on most occasions found the crews to be similar. The crew of the Cuan Law stands out in that they not only thoroughly enjoy what they are doing but have been trained by the owners to provide a level of service and care for the guests that I have rarely seen the equivalent of on other boats.
We had excellent weather with calm seas, an occasional shower as can be expected in the Caribbean in the spring, light to absent currents and fairly good visibility. The boat is in excellent condition and equipment aboard is well maintained.
I would rate the Cuan Law among the more enjoyable live aboards in the world. You can't find a better environment for easy sailing, lazy days, good diving, luxury accomodations and care free Caribbean living than that provided by the Cuan Law.
