Comments The reefs on St. Croix that we visited were 80-90% dead. It’s really sad, because the reefs here were surely magnificent in their day. I'm not surprised. About thirty years ago we were on a cruise and we dived there. The surprising thing was that even the dive guide was not interested in preserving the area. When asked about all of the people fishing right on the reef his answer was that it was more important for them to eat than to have fish for people to see. So, with that attitude who was going to try to protect the reef?
