Comments I was rehabilitating from a knee replacement surgery and the accommodations were great for me. Lots of European backpackers. Not the place for the typical undercurrent reader. We stayed in a hostal named Jakera Lodge (jakera.com) They offer a variety of trips including 10 day kayaking trips on the Orinocco Delta (i did a 4 day). Also offer diving through Hori Sub in Puerto La Cruz about 20 minutes south. Several backpackers were taking the divemaster course. I dove with them. Venezuela has a lot to offer but is very tourist unfriendly. It has the Andes and the Caribbean. Great Whitewater, jungles, anacondas, piranhas excellent ocean kayaking and lots of trash. Diving is best at Los Roques but more expensive.
