Comments I took a 2 tank morning dive through Tarpoon Diving in South Beach, Miami. They have their own shop but the dive boat is independent of them and there were other divers on the boat who had booked through operators other than Tarpoon. The dive shop was well stocked and the lady who was there was friendly and helpful. However, nobody in the shop or the boat checked my C card? The boat crew were also friendly. It was all very relaxed and informal. The boat was decent but the briefing skimped on safety feature description and buddying was left to your own devices (I was diving alone). There were no dive guides from the boat in the water, guests were left to their own devices.
The dives themselves were pleasant enough. The first was on the Belcher barge at about 15m. A simple barge with a little bit of simple, safe, pentration. Nice big grouper in the open hold and a fair few barracuda. The second dive was on a shallow reef, with not a lot to see. However, a couple of nice stingrays cheered up the dive.
For a nice half day potter in the water, it was perfectly acceptable. The shop were renting 3mm fullsuits and, in the middle of April, with water temperature at 23C we got pretty chilly after about 30 mins in the water!
