A return trip to Quiescence after a long hiatus due to heart surgery. As a result Donna dove Nitrox as an added precaution though the dives were to be shallow reef dives at our request. We asked for, and got, Captain John Peacock who was born and bred in the Keys and highly knowledgeable about the dive sites, the local flora, fauna, weather, etc. He had been our Captain on our last visit making it a memorable experience. He was a fount of information on the effects on the reefs of the recent Hurricane Katrina. The dive operation has 3 boats, each carrying a maximum of 6 divers. The boats are spotlessly clean, spacious and fully equipped with O2, etc. Our two dives were on Molasses Reef which Captain John picked for maximum visibility given the residual silting from Katrina. The dive operation is excellent and caters to the dive preferences of those on board. They switch tanks between dives and assist with putting on and taking off equipment. Water is available but no snacks or beverages. Time limits are loosely enforced. Dive briefings are thorough regarding the topography as well as fish to be seen at the site. Routes are suggested but you dive on your own. This is a class operation.
