Comments Did the Goliath Groupers dive with Jupiter (FL) Divers first. Mechanical troubles twice delayed our departure by more than an hour, but when we finally got out we were able to go to the superior site for Goliaths (200lbs.-400lbs. I'd guess). Was a magical experience, they are not afraid if you sidle up to them slowly and join "the school" in the mild current and hold on to the bottom or the pylons. We were free to roam around the 100 meter long dive site of pylons until our 45 minutes were up. Second dive was a drift reef dive, saw half a dozen sharks, tropicals hiding in the shelves & crannies. Good viz, nice dive. 81F water on both dives. Next day we did the shore dive at Blue Heron Bridge 30 miles south of Jupiter. Slack tide was at 8:50am so we got in a few minutes early from the convenient parking area, and leisurely swam over to the bridge, where the current was still a little strong. We ventured in a little, holding on to the sand until the current died down to nothing. It's a real pleasurable Florida reef anomaly with muck critters like frogfish, squid, seahorses, pipefish, flounders, nudibranchs, shrimps & crabs. Like a treasure hunt--you go hither and yon between the bridge supports that are teeming with soft corals and critters hiding there and among the debris like a small sunken boat. It's about an hour window, then you have to exit or the tide starts ripping again. What a delight! 84F water, decent viz the day we dove. Not to be missed if you're in S. Florida.
