Comments Chartered the Lion's Paw dive boat for a weekend of diving in August 2011 with a group of buddies - $840 per day for the entie boat - you fill it!. Boat is a very nice 6-pack owned and operated by Dave Sommers. Dave asked us where and what we wanted to dive and then did his best to find us some nice clear blue water out in the Gulf-Steam with a wreck on the bottom! Dave runs a great charter and has a very nice boat. Conditions the first day were near perfect but the second day was a blow-out. To Dave's credit he gave us the option of going the second day, perhaps hitting a more in-shore wreck, knowing he would not make any $$$ if we opted-out (which we did - good thing). Dave has facilities to fill takes overnight right on the dock (air/nitrox) for a reasonable price. Everyone in my group had a great dive and we look forward to going again. The post-dive pineapple served on a fin was a nice touch too! A group charter is best, but Dave does take walk-ons. Conditions of Hatteras can change rapidly so wreck/deep/open ocean experience is a must.
