Comments This is a fabulous operation! I sigh as I write this, since we only had two days of diving before Hurricane Hanna hit, followed closely by Hurricane Ike. Now I hear that all boats have been destroyed and 80% of houses damaged, so I don't know how long they will take to recover. But when they do, PATRONIZE THEM AND YOU WON'T BE SORRY! Mackie, veteran dive master, is the best I've ever had. He loves to dive, and wants to squeeze the most out of every one of them. He goes verrrrrrrry slow, so you can see all the little critters and appreciate the beauty of the walls, which start at about 50-60 feet and plunge way down. No need to go below 80 feet for most dives, yielding a long dive -- each of ours was more than an hour, and one was an hour and 26 minutes! Boats are small, but roomy enough for the 6 divers they take on each one. They have 63ci tanks for those of us who like the little ones. Reefs are healthy and full of fish, turtles, and even some swimming nurse sharks. The wall is just off shore, so the boat rides to the dive sites are, at most, 10 minutes. Surface intervals are taken back at the shop, where you can stretch your legs, hang out on the beach, or whatever. You leave your gear after your first dive and never handle it again till you leave. Good quality rental gear, as well. Pricing is fair. They will arrange night dives if you want, even for just two people, but we didn't get a chance to do so before all H**L broke loose with the hurricanes. I'll definitely go back, but not during hurricane season!

Osprey Beach Resort is/was a nice little hotel on the beach, just a couple hundred yards down the road from the dive shop. The rooms are clean and airy and full of light, well furnished and many of them have kitchenettes with 2 burners, microwave, toaster oven & coffee maker. The staff was accommodating to our needs, and put out yeoman effort when Hurricane Hanna caused the power to go out -- they fed 20 hungry bored divers out of a tiny kitchen on generator power with alacrity and good humor. They had a beautiful beach, which washed away during Hurr. Hanna, but maybe the next storm will bring it back. If they recover from Hurr. Ike, they're a nice place to stay on the island.
