Comments We had a great trip from start to finish. We planned our trip on the fly, a week from inception to being greeted at the airport. I called another dive operator just for general information on where he'd suggest to stay, what mm suit to bring along, questions about his operation.....WRONG guy to call. Very snippy and no help at all. Was told if I was rich, stay at Young Island, if I was poor stay the apartments. I told him I'd call back in the morning and talk to someone else...I did. I called Kay at INDIGO divers! She actually gave me useful information on where to stay, and actually suggested the resort we had sort of blown off because we thought it was too inexpensive. She got Beachcombers on her cell phone while I was on the other line and got us all set in and hour. Even held our reservation while we went through airline angst! Arranged for our airport transfers and even was there to pick us up on Saturday nite.

Kay and her operation are top notch! They picked us up each morning on the beach right in front of the Beachcombers. The boat was small, but well maintained and very organized. Plenty of room. Kay and Indigo Divers are the only PADI International Retail and Resort Association shop on St. Vincent and adhere closely to PADI safety standards. Unlike the other dive shop I contacted, Indigo dives with a divemaster and a boat captain on all dives, guaranteeing that there is someone on the boat at all times. Believe me, I've been in current conditions that separated our dive party the instant we hit the water. You want someone on the boat!

Indigo didn't rush our dives either. We had 18 dives for the week, and only 2 were under 1 hr. Two were 90 min! We loved it! Our nite dive was 70 min, and I don't think we left the 90ft perimeter of the boat.

St Vincent has great healthy reefs and walls full life and color. There is a nice wreck dive and muck diving that is also exceptional. The boat rides to the dive sites averaged no more than 20 min. Although we were there during the rainy season, we still dove everyday. The morning it stormed we had already arranged to dive the afternoon and a nite dive, but we did end up wearing our wetsuits and goggles back into the dock on our last day due to a tropical deluge.

This was probably one of our more relaxing dive vacation. St. Vincent is not that commercialized yet, the only "chain" we found on the island was a single KFC. We've fallen in love with St. Vincent and are already planning a return trip next August. Kay has already told us she'd be more than happy to help us plan that trip so we can dive the rest of the Grenadines. Next time we'll try diving Bequia and the southern islands, too.

If you go, pack lite! You don't need many clothes, no one cares if you wear something more than once! And the little airline, LIAT is very picky, only 15# carry on! Two words: travel vest! Very useful with all the pockets for books, snacks, cameras, phones, ipods, etc. My carry on was 15# I think my travel vest was another 15#, but they weighed the carry on, not me!

UW Photo Comments While I do take underwater photographs, my set up is just a Canon with an underwater houseing( nothing fancy) but just fine for me for now. Indigo's owner, Kay Wilson is quite the photographer, though, and made sure my camera inwas properly emerced during surface intervals and in transit. She made a point of mentioning interesting things to keep an eye out for and did not rush dives allowing plenty of time to poke around and get great shots. She finds things that other dive masters would speed past! We had great loooooooong dives!
She compiled a cd of shots she'd taken all week long for us to take back home, too.
