Comments Dive St Vincent is still going strong despite the retirement of it's owner Bill Tewes. The reef is healthy and the unusual critters are still there. The diving is easy and mostly shallow. The visibility is usually good. During my six week stay from November to December 2015 the water temperature was consistently in the mid-eighties. Although many divers wore 2/3 ml wetsuits, I dove in a skin and was comfortable the entire time. Shore diving is limited to the "house reef" in front of the dive shop.

As a dive operation, Dive St Vincent offers basic amenities. There is no nitrox, and the dive boats, though fast and seaworthy, are hardly luxurious, However what the operation lacks in topside comforts, it makes up for with great diving. The guides are quite adept at finding unusual animals and helping photographers set up their shots. Many divers are repeat customers who appreciate the exotic underwater life that the island is known for. See examples on my website at [davidinman.phanfare.com link].

Topside, St, Vincent is a throwback to the "old Caribbean." There are only a few luxury hotels on the island and it is easy to immerse oneself in the island culture. There are no Sandals, Breezes, or Club Meds here. Divers who insist on gourmet cuisine, crave nightly entertainment, and enjoy being pampered should probably vacation elsewhere. However, divers who enjoy great "small animal" diving and and appreciate the island culture will find a lot to like in "the Critter Capital of the Caribbean."

UW Photo Comments With the exception of a fresh water rinse tank, there are no facilities for underwater photographers on the boats. It is recommended that photographers service their gear in their hotel rooms.
