Comments We went with Kids Sea Camp who run a very good operation. Had five teens get certified and the others were already. Alternates provided for little ones (SASY) and other activities to keep them busy. This resort doesn't usually take kids (we heard) so the number of divers cleaned out their supply of rental gear. We stayed one extra day and only had two other divers in the boat. They can schedule five dives/day if the night dive is on - twice/week. Good: lots of fish, the occasional turtle, octopus, beaucoup lionfish, viz OK maybe 40-60 feet. Shop handles your gear but be sure to check it before entry (one diver failed to do so and discovered an empty tank). Barrel sponges everywhere. Water temps a little too cold for skins but lightweight wet suit worked fine. Definitely no gloves/knives - they enforce this and we had two visits in our 16 boat dives from the "marine rangers". With a computer can dive your own profile but it didn't seem that the dive guides worried about that since computers are so prevalent. Bad: dive guides were generally OK but didn't spend a lot of time checking their divers u/w. They assume you know what you're doing. Somewhat limited supply of dive gear and I'd recommend you bring your own; wet suits available but all shorties - I like a full suit. Like most tropical locations runs on "island time" so leave your schedule at home. The rooms and most of the restaurants are all up a huge hill which you can do once and then rely on the shuttle vans to take you up from the beach. Currents can rip around the point just to the south of the resort - it got me until I grabbed a marker buoy and flagged down a local fisherman to take me back. Be sure to bring some kind of beacon or noisemaker in case. "Lockers" are small and have locks made of tinfoil but as this is a relatively upscale place I wouldn't think theft is a big problem. Your BCD and wetsuit hang up with everyone else's and it can get confusing at times. Mark everything with your name.
