Comments We booked this dive excursion with Pro-Divers via the Internet, intending to dive off a cruise ship. The contact person was Margot MacLeod. Her husband Auston and she own the operation. We emphasized that the family of four were experienced divers and hoped to be taken to other than a thirty foot sand bottom for thirty minutes. They accomodated, asking us (a collective us of a dozen divers) where we wanted to go (after picking us up at the cruise ship dock).

We dove a non-descript reef on the first dive appropriately named (after some prodding) "No Name Reef." It was a basic Caribbean low profile reef with modest fish life and some evidence of sand and algae on the coral. It was okay but pretty underwhelming for a start. On the second dive we went to the Wreck of the Talata and the Barge. Now this was meritorious and worthwhile. The Talata was a 200 foot freighter that I believe they said was sunk in a hurricane. It is scattered over a 100 square yards of the ocean floor at about 80 feet. The Barge is a second wreck about a 100 meters away sitting on a sloping wall. It's intact. Both wrecks featured huge Morays slithering around. The air fills were 2 or 3 hundred pounds short of 3 thousand but teh boat was real nice to dive from and remounting was easy and crew helpful.

Both Margot and Auston were extremely cordial and helpful. Despite divers of varying degress of proficiency, they made all feel welcome and comfortable. Once Auston saw you knew what you were doing, he let you pretty much explore at will; just be back onboard with 500 PSI. I'm not sure St Kitts rates a full week of diving (maybe) but it certainly merits an investment in a couple days and absolutely if you're coming off a cruise ship. Pro-Divers is also a good choice.
