Comments We spent a few days in Brisbane both before and after diving with the folks on Taka to combat the jet lag. After arriving in Honiara, we were met by one of the boat's transfer reps who took us to the Point Cruz Yacht Club to await transfer to the boat. Be sure to have some Solomons Dollars to buy a drink...there is a currency exchange right at the Honiara airport when you exit. The transfer to the boat is done by tender as the vessel moors offshore. Upon embarking on the boat, we were immediately greeted by the Captain and other staff and were made to feel right at home. This is a newer vessel running in the Solomons, and is built very sturdily. HUGE salon area, with lots of space to spread out between dives. We had time to stow our stuff in our cabins, set up our gear and take in a beautifully prepared dinner. Big dive deck, and the best part is it has five combination shower, toilet stalls, so there is never a wait to rinse off or use the facilities after or before a dive. Large stern swim platform made main vessel entries easy. Crew goes out of their way to make sure you are assisted into and out of the water safely, and are always ready to lend a hand with anything. Each diver is required to have a safety tube, audible signal device and all divers are issued a Lifeline radio, just in case. Reef hooks are sometimes needed, and a limited number could be provided, but we all had our own from previous trips. Woodcarving village was a big hit...lots to see and buy! Dive sites ranged from muck site for small critter to absolutely beautiful walls and reefs to WWII wrecks. There is something here for everyone.
