Comments I've wanted to go on this trip for years and finally did it. What a fantastic area for diving. And the Bilikiki, the only live-aboard that has plied these waters for about 20 years, is a very well run boat. The food was plentiful, varied and delicious, and the divemaster couple, Daniella and Chaba, were excellent. They gave good briefings with drawings before each dive, and one of them accompanied the divers on every dive, pointing out all sorts of small critters and swim-throughs. They were always asking everyone how they were doing and were quick to assist with any issues. There is an abundance of small critters, very healthy corals, turtles, sharks, and schools of bumphead wrasse, jacks and barracuda. Weather-wise, we experienced a wide range of conditions, from cloudy/rainy to beautiful sunny days. Surface conditions were predominantly mild, from flat to small swells, but we dove one wonderful seamount where the surface conditions were raging with 3-5 foot seas and breaking combers. Our group of experienced divers, a mismash from around the world, managed to pull this dive off without incident. The Bilikiki is expensive; I did the 14 day trip for about $7,500 including nitrox, alcohol, and tip. Airfare obviously varies depending on where one is coming from. But in my opinion, it was worth every penny! Can't wait to do it again.
