Comments The dive operation was well run and the guides were quite good. You left your gear on the boat They took the gear to were they stored it over night at the dive shop after rinsing it. There were hangers for wet suits on the boat.(I believe they will have new space at the harbor soon.)They brought it back and set it up before you arrived in the morning. A taxi to and from the harbor was part of the package. But you need a dry bag or something to keep wet things in as the taxis don't want to be rusted out by salt water. Little fresh water on the island makes that a reasonable request, otherwise they are good. Small turtles are common as it seems to be home for juveniles and some large ones. The coral on the shallow dives are a bit blasted due to wave action but there are fish and critters to see. Vis was rather poor (for them) for that week, which was not normal. They were doing some instruction and could deal with beginner divers. (the classes used a different boat.)The beginner boat did see a Manta one day. They did not like diving in current so were careful to avoid it.

My ratings of fish and life may be a little harsh as my last trip had almost too much. (There, it was hard to take a picture of something big with all little fish in the way.)

Food was pricey but some quite reasonable but all were good with several restaurants to choose from. The hotel was nice with most restaurants within easy walk. The only rooms that had twin beds were not air conditioned, most of the year it would not be a problem, but in late August it could get a little warm in the room in the afternoon. The local rooster would start crowing about four or five in the morning which got annoying with the windows open. The staff was very willing to help with most anything.

All in all the people are friendly. It is a small island and everybody knows everybody a village atmosphere for sure.

I would like to go back in a cooler part of the year and do some hiking too. The trails are nice though there is little (NO) level ground.

UW Photo Comments Due to the lack of fresh water on Saba there was no fresh water rinse tank and limited area on the boat for cameras. But you can work around that if you wanted to. The staff had tips on what others had done and would help as best they could. They said some brought a soft cooler to keep the camera in. It would keep the camera damp until you could get it back to your room.
