Comments We recently had a great trip to an Island definitely off the beaten path, but well worth the shortest flight landing any human should have to endure. I wont go into the landing or take off, because you can see actually movies of it on the Internet. www.youtube.com/watch?v=lFO1LuiuVL0 Shortest runway in the world.

A taxi picks you up at the airport and takes you to your room or in our case a house. A mere 8 minute walk from the house, landed us smack dab in the middle of Saba. Plenty of places to eat, or drink, and all wonderful. We went directly to the Dive shop to check in before the next day of diving. The shop itself was filled with all kinds of goodies that tempted me beyond my limits. We were updated and informed on all the aspects of diving with Sea Saba, and after filling out alittle paper work, we were ready to dive.
The taxi arrives at 8 am to pick you up, then heads off to pick up a few more divers before heading to the dive shop to place your order for lunch to be delivered to the boat if you are diving 3 dives, reservations for dinner or any other help you might need before heading to the marina. About a 10 minute drive(more if the goats are in the road) to the marina, and you are dropped off at the boat. I have to say, its a beautiful drive, took some of my best pictures from the van.
We dove 3 dives a day for 7 days with nitrox and had planned on night dives too, but the sand barge keep indicating it was going to arrive so the night dives were called off. The boat did two dives in the am then went back into the marina if it needed to pick up any one or drop off anyone. The lunches that you order need to be picked up before the boat leaves the dock in the am, so don't hesitate to remind the crew. They get alittle busy in the am setting you up with tanks, nitrox analyzing, equipment checks, etc.
At about 3:30 PM the van is waiting on the boat to take you to the dive shop, again to see if you need anything, then of to your room or house.
That's the encyclopedia version.
Food and Hills:Everything is up hill, I don't think we ever walked down hill, maybe it was always after dinner and drinks we went down hill, I don't remember. Must have been those free home ade liqueur drinks at Brigadoon! Trish relayed a few jokes to our group that I still share much to my husbands horror. I do have to say, we have been fortunate to travel all over the world, and try to do 4-6 dive trips a year out of the USA and I ate the 6 best dinners of my life in Saba. I will list the spots, Brigadoon,(3 times), Eden, Rainforest restaurant and Scouts place.
Diving and Sea Saba: You can contact Sea Saba on the Internet and they will arrange everything for you. We arranged our own airfare because I have gotten pretty good at it and enjoy the hunt. Hotwire.com and Winair. Sea Saba can arrange a room or house with a dive package included, I would suggest just paying for two dives a day instead of three incase you have issues. We prepaid for 3 dives a day and house, as well as food in fridge. Even if we get sick, we dive, but others were not so fortunate. So, do what is best for you. My only negative response. On to the diving, started alittle slow but improved on day two. I think the first day they size you up and then place you accordingly. We meet a bunch of wonderful people that made the trip very enjoyable and fun. I am afraid we end up costing them a lot of money, we talked them all into the third dive every day, sorry.
Overall, I would say the diving was at the top of my best ever list. And, I have never said this before, but I would like to go back again next year. I like the idea of never repeating a resort or Island but this may be the exception to the rule.
Current: oh yeah!! But fun and do able. Definitely a heart beating experience a few times. First time I ever seen my air bubbles go side ways as I hung on to the mooring line for dear life. Oh, I forgot to mention I had to hold my mask on so it would not be swept away by the current. It was the best day ever!!! Don't worry, this was only on two days and if this was not your cup of tea, the other boat did their diving in a calmer area. Something for everyone.
