Comments This was a mixed trip. Wrecks and reefs. We flew on a charter from Gatwick to Sharm non-stop. We hated the Airline, Monarch. Imagine being a sardine, but tighter. Didn't arrive 'til almost midnite and got to the dive boat at 2 AM.

In order to avoid crowds of day boats, we frequently dove early in the day. Currents weren't too bad. Visibility was a little disappointing - water was relatively warm. When it is cooler, the vis is better. For our group, lots of dives on Shark reef. Amazing wall. Lots of fish. We loved the Napoleon wrasse. At this time of year, we also saw lots of schools of fish such as snappers, unicorn fish and spade fish.

My wife and I personally, didn't like diving from the RIBS (pangas). We would have preferred to dive off the main boat.

Dive profiles were whatever you could do safely. All the divers were experienced. Generally 40-70 minute dives.

The boat was comfortable. Cabins large enough but they had an off odor of sewage on occasion. The crew covered it up with deodorizing sprays.

Food was OK but a bit institutional. No REAL coffee, just instant (thank you England, where they seem to like instant!).

For the price, this was a good deal. Getting there on the charter was a bit dodgy (missed our connection on return) but I would consider diving with Tornado again.

UW Photo Comments This was a workshop for underwater photographers. Lots of recharge stations and electric plugs (european plugs). My only problem is that there were so many photographers that it was sometimes difficult to find a place to work. High powered air to dry camera.
