Comments This is a small resort on Sogod Bay, known mostly for whale sharks. We were there before whale shark season started, so were almost the only ones there. Stayed for 5 dive days. Room was basic but pleasant. Dining area also pleasant - AC generally only turned on for dinner or if we asked. Appreciated the filtered water in the dining area and in our room. Nice to be able to have coffee in the morning in the room and sit on the front step and look out across the bay.

Food was really good - the chef is great! They accommodated special requests and lots of fresh veggies. Chef would tell us what he got at the market that day, and we'd order that.

3 dives a day.... best dives were at protected areas - especially across the bay at Napantau. Several good dives near the resort - but many of the dive sites have been severely impacted by crown of thorns and by overfishing. Also probably siltation and pollution. But even when the corals were not very healthy, we still often saw at least some decent-sized fish - sweetlips, groupers, snappers, emperors. At Napantau saw giant trevally. Saw the biggest turtle I've ever seen - it was HUGE. Also enjoyed a muck dive - Malitbog - where we saw numerous sea robins, sea horses, weird anemones, scorpionfish, razorfish, etc. Also not to be missed is the night dive at the jetty. Really great diversity and tons to see. You are winding around the pilings to the jetty, so must be careful not to touch stuff. Sandy area also has crabs, stargazer, etc.
