Comments The resort was OK, though my room was high up the hill over the main buildings, with many tall and irregularly spaced steps up the path, making it inconvenient to return during the day. The air conditioning did not work well, so I ran it on maximum all of the time and it was sometimes just bearable. The room should have had an ocean view, but the trees off the balcony needed trimming and we couldn’t actually see anything. The food was served buffet style for our group’s all-inclusive plan, though we had the option of ordering off the menu if we wanted. Cookies were offered during our short surface intervals. Being at a large resort with three bars and a ten minute walk to town was very different from the usual more remote places I dive. This reminded me of trips to Cozumel when I was a new diver.

The dive operation is large and handles a lot of people, but without any flexibility. They keep strict one hour dive times to get in four daytime dives a day. They have a variety of sites: several types of reefs, wrecks, muck. They run a bunch of boats, both bangkas and larger speed boats. Their regular sites varied from just off the dock to 20 minutes away. They also offer two-dive trips to Verde Island, an hour’s cruise away where we finally had 75 foot visibility, large reef structures, clouds of fish and even a (very few) larger fish. It wasn't unusual to run into other dive groups on the sites, with as many as 15 boats at Verde Island. The variety of sites meant that we had some diversity, so that I saw 460 different species of fish over a week.

UW Photo Comments Their camera room is OK, but upstairs and through a bar to get to from the dive center. Air conditioning is turned off when no one is there and the room always felt stuffy. Crew carried cameras on and off the boats for us. We returned to the resort between dives, but there wasn't enough time between the two morning or two afternoon dives to touch the camera.
