Comments Bad is PNG and Air Nuguini. Air fares are high. Flights get cancelled. Just go with the flow you eventually get where you want to go. I was caught with too few pages empty pages in my passport and was close to being denied entry as a result. After pleading logic finally prevailed only to be faced with a cancelled flight and an overnight in Port Moresby.
Great is the boat and the diving.
Febrina is one of the few boats still operating in PNG. This was my first trip on the boat and I was very impressed with the boat and the operation. Forward cabins were recently redone making them more comfortable with bathrooms in each cabin. Crew was one of the best. First boat I have ever been on with as many women crew as men. Maybe that says something. All PNG natives except Alan, the owner.
Boat food was good by PNG standards plus wine at dinner was included. Wine was not "plonk" and Alan was certainly generous with the pour.
Diving included four dives plus a night dive on most days. Dive sites on our 12 night itinerary included the Wetu Islands, Kaviang and Fathers reef which gave us a good variety of diving and experiences. Josie and Digger as dive guides were great companions underwater and did a good job at finding the small stuff.
Plenty of sharks and barracuda in Fathers reef area- Grey reef, Silver Tip, white tip reef sharks plus George II the friendly barracuda.
For small critters this is not Milne Bay or Lembeh Strait so you will nor be wowed. But to their credit the dive guides do a good job of finding what is available.
Finally these are great reefs, outstanding coral life and good fish life that are hard to find today
