Comments My dive buddy and I spent the first night in another hotel ... the Park Hotel. It was a HOT night (34*C/low 90's F) and the hotel had NO Air Conditioning. Rooms were small, no fridge, small bathroom, etc. On day 2 we checked out and checked into the Park Plaza Veredula . . . had a nice apartment with AC, kitchenette, etc. The Orca Diving Centre serves the resort area of Veredula; it is located at the Park Plaza Histria (5* Hotel). The centre itself is adequate, plenty of rental equipment that is in good shape . . . although finding a wetsuit that fits properly might be a problem; the dive staff is well qualified and provides first class service. Dive sites are a) on the house reef just outside the dive centre; b) at local dive sites accessed by a small boat; or c) wrecks and other sites reached by a larger boat provided by another dive centre. I dived all three; viz was terrible at all three (although I was told this is not always the case) . . . the house reef is full of rocks and cement blocks; the local site ("Fraskeric") was an interesting tour through some tunnels and thermoclines (16*C-28*C), bit better viz, couple of crabs, lobsters, small fish; the wreck ("RN Giuseppe Dezza") was at 33m, 2m viz . . . a real challenge, but a 3 hour round trip for a one tank 30min dive. On the third day all diving was cancelled because of a forecasted storm which didn't appear until much later. It appeared that diving was available just for occasional divers, not for more serious divers. Other than diving: food at restaurants in the Veredula area was fair . . . some good (eat at the "Fisch Huette"), some not so good ("Yacht Restaurant" at Park Plaza Histria). Some sites in Pula worth seeing (the Arena & the Aquarium).
