Comments This was my third trip. Excellent weather - flat calm for three days, blue sky pleasant temperature. We visited the northern point of the Musandam by the Straits of Hormuz. The dhow is modern, clean, and has excellent twin cabins with en-suites. Al Marsa crew is friendly, attentive and professional. The dhow was rented by Pavilion Dive from the Jumeriah Beach Hotel in Dubai. Divemasters present on evey dive were very knowledgeable. Flexible dive scheduling allowed plenty of time for sunbathing and relaxing. We did night dive off the dive deck of the dhow. Most dives are from a fast boat towed behind dhow to the anchor point in a quiet bay - this is where gear is kept during the trip. Food is plentiful and wholesome. The dhow is a diesel engined vessel but switches to a quiet small generator when at anchor so that the peacefulness of this remote location can be enjoyed. Kayaks and snorkelling available for surface intervals.
Pristine coral beds and large shoals of Indian Ocean type fish. Saw several turtle; one we spent 15 minutes with while it was grazing. Large rays (Cow-Tail and Blotched 1.5m diameter). Some coral damage in places due to a cyclone earlier this year. Mountainous rugged scenery. Very quiet and peaceful. We will go back. I visited with my daughter and two other friends.
