Comments My wife and I have been diving since 1976 and have witnessed the change in the oceans underwater. We wanted to visit Little Corn Island because it is off the beaten path of tourist diving and we wanted to check out the health of the reef and fish life in this part of the Caribbean. We are happy to have gone as we saw a spotless and healthy reef. The fish life could be more abundant but this was more abundant then other parts of the Caribbean. Nothing compares to the South Pacific these days. We were looking for a change of pace that was not days away by travel, although it took a day and a half to get there with the flight connections.
No cars or motorcycles on the island, population 800 people.
The dive master, Gary, carried a spear all the time so he could kill the lion fish when he saw one.
He has been efficient as we only saw small lion fish and a bunch of juvenile fish of different kinds. The lion fish were fed to nurse sharks, lobster and moray eels.
The topography underwater was varied and the deepest we got was around 80 feet.
This was easy going diving. Most sites were 10 minutes away.
