Comments This year(was there in 2019 and 2018) was another good diving experience with Land and Sea. They picked us up at the resort and chose two great dive sites: Puertocitos Point and Bird Rock. I am amazed by the variety of Dive sites I’ve seen in the Loreto Bay Area. Nikki our dive master told us right up front that we wouldn’t go very slow so we could find many things. This is in contrast to many of the sites I’ve been to with a dive masters were young and fast and wanted to go through the motions. Maria was with some discover Scuba people and she still was very knowledgeable of the sites and gave us a huge bonus at Bird rock with a very large sea horse! I am amazed by this area because even snorkeling I found a nice octopus to film and several balloon fish. This is a protected area one of the largest in the world and it shows that the flora and fauna are abundant. Seasonally the best diving is from early summer to the end of October. Then the sea starts turning over with large amounts plankton and the temperatures go down. On the first dive we spotted a turtle who was very friendly. Eels were abundant. No pelagics but abundant reef fish, including Mexican Hogfish, Cortez Angel fish, plenty of Wrasse and scoops of Salina and Sargent Majors.

The second half on Bird Island was amazing. The bird poop was used by the numerous and plenty full sea fans and gorgonian‘s and the walls are spectacular. A huge bait ball of sardines and engulfed several times at shallow depths as we ascended for our safety stop. Numerous fish attacked the ball and the scene was very interesting, like a Nat. Geo special. The highlight was finding the yellowish orange 4- inch long seahorse wrapped around some coralina.

The resort was very very beautiful and the visual affects of the mountains meeting to see i and several different islands was amazing. We decided to do the all inclusive for several days so we could use kayaks and then motorized vehicles. The food was pretty good there were several buffets but you can also order all a cart and the tortilla soup was really really good.I would say book directly with Land and Sea because the pricing is much better than going through the resort.
