Comments Rocio Del Mar is a world class liveaboard experience, that is so close to home. Week long trips depart from the tip of the Sea of Cortez, with shuttle service from Phoenix airport for most passengers. We were able to drive as Arizona residents. Cabins are clean, large and the boat is well maintained. What stands out is the crew -- top notch professional attitude and friendly. Good food, free beer and wine, and vegetarians aboard well cared for.

Diving in the Sea of Cortez exceeded my expectations. While not world class destination in terms of populations of fish, coral and pelagics, the unique experiences and life in the Sea of Cortez make this a fabulous trip to add to your wish list. Cavorting with playful sea lions on many dives, Octopus seen both day and night, curious unique creatures like giant jawfish, and the highlight of snorkeling with over a dozen whale sharks for hours more than make up for the absence of sharks and more prolific schools of fish. Acceptable to good visibility on most dives. Be prepared for thermoclines. Hot water at the surface on some dives gave way to 70 degree upwellings below. RDM also goes to the Socorro islands and that is reported to be an even more amazing trip
