Comments This was a trip of a lifetime. The entire crew of the Nautilus Explorer, (with the exception of the cook)from the captain to the hostesses all kitted up at some point and dived with us. That says it all really. They are all divers, and they know what makes a dive trip special. I felt like it was my boat. Some folks were a little cold, with only 5mm wetsuits. I don't know how seasonal changes affect that. I'd say definitely 7mm, and two divers opted for dry suits. The whites were awesome, and we were not even really in the height of the season. The kelp forests of Isla Benetos and the sealion colony on Isla Cedros were a photographer's dream.

I had a couple of minor gear failures, and the crew are extremely well equipped with everything you might need. Everything you could wish for was taken care of. The chief engineer even helped me fix a broken camera part, which I'm sure is not in his job description.

It is telling, that of the 18 divers aboard, 6 of them were on their second or even third trip with the Explorer. If I do ANY diving next summer, I will definitely be booking something with these folks.

UW Photo Comments The islands visited are basically uninhabited, so if you don't bring it you won't have it. You'll wand good wide angle for the sharks, but long strobe arms will be a pain in the cages and tend to get tangled in the kelp forests.
