Comments The Good: Lots of Great White Sharks (the only thing that really mattered). Food was edible. Crew was helpful and the Divemaster, Benjamin, was pretty cool. Good vis. Sharks came close. Nailed some pretty cool pics. Pretty happy.

The Bad: OMG this boat is filthy. Every night the bottoms of my feet were black ... like I had been walking around in black mud. Do they EVER hose down the decks of this boat? Safety? Well ... let's put it this way ... the door from the dive deck to the salon, on pretty much every liveaboard I've been on, is a steel bulkhead door that seals against water intrusion in case of a catastrophe. In the case of the Sea Escape, the doors are standard issue residential doors that looked like they were purchased from the local hardware store. I am not kidding! The doors seal against nothing!

Commentary: If you are the hearty, uber-macho, California diver type, who likes to spearfish, or drop below 300 feet on tri-mix gas, all of my issues with Sea Escape probably won't matter to you. Most California dive boats are pretty rugged and a lot of California divers are accustomed to an operation like this one. But if safety, and a "clean" operation are important, I would recommend a different liveaboard operation.

Closest Airport San Diego Getting There Fly into San Diego, get picked up at your hotel, drive over the Mexican border to Ensenada and board the boat.
