Comments We knew we were not in the right season for Cabo Pulmo, and water temp and viz were as we expected. No misrepresentation there. It was very cold, but cold is OK is you can see things. The viz was OK (20') on our first dive at El Bajo, have never seen so many pufferfish in one place, they were as common as sand. Must have see 100 on the first dive. The schools overall were big, the fish in the schools big, and we could see very large schools move past us but just out of visibility range. Looked more like moving rock formations, large shadows. Can only imagine what it is like in the right season. We were only divers on the boat.

Because we were at low season, it appeared they were breaking in new dive masters. So there was a dive where we could not find the site for about 10 minutes. Not a deal killer, and sort of understandable when the viz is 5 feet or so.

The accommodations, we stayed in one of the casitas, it was perfectly nice, clean, comfortable, quiet (keeping in mind we were off season). If you go to stay a while, bring in as much of your supplies as you need, this place is really off the grid, 10 kilometers of washboard dirt road once you leave the paved road. Have read some reviews about CP Beach Resort that people were disappointed as it is not "a resort". It is pretty well known it is off the grid, so I guess it depends on your expectations. We will be back (in season) and will try other operator(s) and accommodations. There are a few places to eat, all walking distance.

We did hear from La Paz operators later in the week that CPBR does a decent amount of day trip trade from Cabo San Lucas, and that drives the 45 minute dive profiles. Don't know if that is true but we did experience pretty time-set diving.

One other thing, they give you a wrist band to show you paid the park fee, it is like ton ones you get at the hospital, and if you take it off you have to pay for another one. If you are diving elsewhere (like La Paz) you can leave it on and not pay the fee again. Not a big deal, the fee goes to support the resource, just an FYI.
