Comments Joined the blueOtwo liveaboard, Blue Voyager, in Sept 2022 for a 7 nights trip around the Central Atolls in the Maldives. The trip was hosted by Insider Divers and Girls that Scuba. Twin cabins came with air conditioning, en suite bathroom, and good storage. The vessel has a jacuzzi (filled only when boat is ‘moored’), multiple sun decks as well as a shaded lounge area, and indoor dining area, bar and lounge for presentations. There's a spacious camera gear area for charging, set up and storage. Nitrox is available. Rapid home COVID testing is highly recommended prior to boarding, but not checked.
Dive sites were minutes away, and accessed on a dhoni. It’s equipped with a marine head and 2 handheld showers at the back deck. We each had our own spot, where we could safely leave our gear and kit up. Crew members were always roaming, lending a helping hand when needed. Solo divers were paired up with similar levels and interests. Due to strong currents, giant strides with negative entries started almost every dive. Dive sites were diverse and corals were healthy, surrounded by big and small animals in abundance. Highlights were reef mantas and other rays, all kinds of sharks, nudibranchs, healthy table corals, turtles, sweetlips, batfish, eels, etc. The biggest highlight happened one night after dinner. The lights were on at the back of the boat, and while watching dolphins at the periphery, a whale shark swam up to the boat, shortly joined by another (and a manta), then a 3rd eventually joined. Everyone was able to jump in and have an impromptu snorkel with these incredible giants.
Once back aboard, dives were detailed on a white board, alongside a map of where we dove.
Food choices were good. Vegan and gluten-free options were available. Meals were buffet style. Although the Maldives is muslim country, alcohol was available for purchase on the boat post dives, at US prices.
Overall, would highly recommend this liveaboard for its location, excellent crew and value.
