Comments This was our eighth live-aboard trip -- six of them w/ Aggressor Fleet. The boat, which has received rave reviews elsewhere, had seen better days: although the ship appeared well-maintained, the sails had been removed, so we motored everywhere; this and several other problems (limited goodies in the on-board shop) were attributed to the cheapskate attitude of the franchisees.

All diving was done from a dhoni (launch), on which all dive equipment was stored throughout the week. Cameras were handled by the crew from the camera table on the mother ship to the camera table on the dhoni. On our first dive we were told that the aluminum tanks had been removed for testing, so we had VERY HEAVY steel 80s. It took almost all of us two days of diving to adjust our weights -- normally steel 80s are 2 lbs heavier than aluminum tanks, but these tanks were about 10 lbs heavier. My wife was down to 0 lbs of weight and still felt heavy. Dive briefings were detailed - as is the norm for Aggressor boats; they were done on the mother ship, but didn't necessarily match conditions found in the water once we reached the dive site.

On several occasions we were told to perform a "negative entry" (i.e., enter w/o air in your BC so you can drop right down through the current). With 16 divers (all quite experienced) and two dive masters, we did not always meet up at the end of these negative entries. On one occasion, my wife and I bailed out of a dive when we realized that, no matter how hard we kicked, we were going backwards, away from the object of the dive. Most other divers bailed out of this dive too. In the discussion that followed the dive the senior dive master accused us of not having entered the water quickly enough -- even though my wife and I were the first two in the water.

Problems that arose were always the fault of the divers. [We later learned, from a member of our trip who stayed on for the next week, that all of the crew except for one dive master had been fired at the end of the week. We hadn't even had time to let our feelings be know to Aggressor Fleet.]
