Comments The boat was the "Sachika"(topclassdiving.com), a last minute substitute for the new Aggressor boat (not yet ready). Well-appointed, but catering to Italians, and with Italian dive-masters, who were not up to what I've experienced with Aggressor in the past. The food was monotonous and hot dishes were usually served cold. The only free drinks were water, tea, and coffee.
The cabins were large with the largest heads I've seen, but the showers were always cold and complaints were greeted with advice to turn the knobs another way.
The diving can be very exciting, but currents were often the stongest I have ever encountered and this is not diving for the casual or inexperienced diver. Visibilty was often poor. The coral is not as pretty as many Pacific locales. The dive masters did not pay enough attention to diver safety and one seemed to have less English skill than he thought. No safety or evacuation briefing when we boarded the boat. The dhonis used to reach the dive sites are difficult to board at the end of a dive and crowded.
It is unlikely that an American would wind up on this boat unless the Aggresssor Fleet continues to use it as a substitute, but I suggest asking if you're booking an Aggressor trip in the Maldives in the near future.
