Comments [None]Wakatobi is a long trip from anywhere in the U.S. and The Pelagian is an expensive live aboard. The boat is immaculate and the crew caters to your every need. While the maximum # of divers it can accommodate is 10, on my trip we had but 5 . So two of us cut deals to upgrade our cabins for less than the usual surcharge. The Pelagian offers 4 daily dives- three day dives and one night dive. All dives are off a Zodiac rather than the mother ship. The muck diving is superb insofar as number of critters located is concerned but with lower viz ( maybe 25 ft.). The open sea diving offered viz of 60-85 ft at 77-79F water temperature at depth that never exceeded 100 ft- all 5 diver were on 31%-33% Nitrox. I had a 100 cu ft tank but the other divers chose an 80CC tank. Tons of tropical fish, a few Banded Sea Kraits and Hawksbill turtles , some Napoleon Wrasses , rays of various types and much more .The open ocean was a bit rough at times, making it somewhat challenging for me to don my gear in the Zodiac. But the Zodiac dive guides ( one or two on each dive) gave unstinting help in getting this 77 year old divers geared up.
