Comments This is one of my favorite dive operations. I've dived with the Lembongan group twice and once each with Bunaken and Lembeh. They are professional and careful. And inexpensive.

They operate two boats, one with a capacity of 8 divers and one with room for 12. The number of people on the boat can increase with extra guides and instructors and dive master or dive instructor trainees. It's crowded if the boat is full or even near full. Most sites are within 15 - 20 minutes and people sit on the front or roof of the boat, opening up a bit more space.

If you stay with them, then you are guaranteed to dive with them. Every day I ran into people who wanted to dive but were staying in guest houses and hustling to find a dive operator to dive with.

There are basically two areas to dive in--the south coast of Nusa Penida where there is a manta cleaning station and a manta feeding station and a place to see mola molas. I'm not terribly fond of those areas because they are overrun with dive boats from Lembongan and from Bali. In addition, you tend to spend a lot of time swimming to the sites to see these critters and not much time looking at what is where you are. The second area is the north coast of Nusa Penida which is for most sites, a plateau and wall.

The currents at Lembongan can be pretty awful. It isn't possible to know ahead of time what the currents will be like and they can switch during a dive (several times in fact). I encountered a few fairly strong down currents, but nothing I couldn't handle easily.

The corals are in good shape and there are lots of reef fish with the occassional shark and more frequently turtles. Depending on the tides and currents, there can be large schools of jack and trevali.

My son is getting his dive masters and he did two workshops with them and was charged only for the dive. (I was expecting that he'd have to pay something for the extra time and training he received.)

Breakfast is included. There is fruit and cereal and you can have eggs, pancakes and french toast. If you dive lunch is included, but I generally skip that unless lunch is served on the boat.

Fruit, cookies, tea and coffee are available on the boat.

Most of the dive guides are Indonesian. It's a PADI training center so there may be dive masters and dive instructors in training.

UW Photo Comments The two boats are crowded and if you're lucky, someone has brought one or two bins for cameras. Sometimes they have water. There are no camera facilities at the hotel.
