Comments I traveled with a private group of underwater photographers and naturalists organized by Paul Humann and Ned Deloach. We were housed at two contiguous resorts - Scuba Seraya and Villa Markisa - because our group was so large that one resort would not accomodate us.

Although one could easily walk from one resort to the other, the dive operations were separate. Because my friends were housed at Villa Markisa and I was at Scuba Seraya, we were initially unable to dive together. However I approached the dive operation at Scuba Seraya and my diving was switched to Villa Markisa with little difficulty. I spent most of my 10 days of diving with the group from Villa Markisa. Overall I thought that the dive operations of the two resorts were comparable

Overall, Villa Markisa is slightly more upscale. The accommodations are more luxurious and the food is better. However Scuba Seraya is very pleasant and the food is good. It is slightly more rustic than Villa Markisa but quite acceptable in terms of comfort and convenience. Internet access was available at both resorts but connection was a bit spotty.

This location is most suitable for macro photographers. The great majority of dive sites were muck diving and the guides were very helpful in finding rare critters. Nudibranchs were especially abundant. Our package included two boat dives daily and two shore dives. Night diving was optional and usually from shore.

UW Photo Comments Most of the sites were muck diving and the critters are often quite small. Macro photographers would be very happy here.
