Comments This is a top-notch operation both above and below the water. The cottages are beautiful with a fabulous view of the Straits. All feature some type of indoor/outdoor baths which are beautiful. The grounds are lovely (even in a torrential downpour) and their infinity pool is inviting if you can tear yourself away from the diving. The restaurant is well-equipped and the meals were good but not great. Portions were ample but the menu is not exciting. Resort staff was extremely friendly and accommodated all special requests. Take strong legs, however, because everything is built into the hillsides so there are lots of stairs to climb!

The diving.....people come to Lembeh for the diving and won't be disappointed here. All of the guides are extremely well-trained and helpful. Cameras were handled excellently and critters were found in such great numbers that you didn't know where to look first!

Lembeh Resort and KBR across the Straits confer daily to make sure they are not taking boats to the same dive sites at the same time. Dive sites were uncrowded and you were free to avail yourselves of the services of the two guides or go off on your own. Dives averaged 65 minutes. Depth limits were generally not an issue. Nitrox is available for an additional charge. Buying a boat diving package (3 boat dives/day) entitles you to one unguided house reef per day. They have a lovely house reef which also features numerous mandarinfish at dusk. We booked a 4-night/3-dive day extension to our Raja Ampat liveaboard and wished we had stayed at Lembeh the whole time!

Several of the major liveaboard companies are now diving in this region or moving operations to this region to dive. I have very mixed feelings about dumping 20 divers onto any of these unique dive sites but will reserve judgement until I can check them out for myself!

UW Photo Comments The Resort has a huge dedicated camera building with individual assembly/charging stations. The rinse tank near the shore is huge and the crew carry the cameras everywhere for you. They are totally dedicated to the huge number of photographers who come to this area looking for the unique critters. The groups are small with two dive guides per group and all you have to do is give them your "wish list" and start checking things off! Their guides are incredibly knowledgeable, friendly and very respectful of the underwater environment.
