Comments It took almost two days to reach Misool from San Francisco, including a five-hour boat trip from Sorong, but it was definitely worth it. Lovely resort with very attentive staff, well-appointed overwater cottage with direct access to the horseshoe lagoon and the house reef across its entrance. Dozens of dive sites just 10 to 30 minutes by boat from the resort, and the diving is just spectacular.
Wonderful variety of healthy hard and soft corals, an abundance of good-size fish thanks to the vast marine reserve established in the area, lots of sharks and barracudas. Well run dive operation; Calvin and his staff are very accommodating - one night I was the only person who wanted to dive, and a member of the staff promptly took me on a lovely dive to Epaulette City. An epaulette shark appeared on cue, followed by the biggest green turtle I have ever seen. It was a great vacation, so much so that we are returning next March.

Having visited Misool Ecoresort last month I concur with Renata's comments. I have dived extensively throughout the world and I don't remember ever having a more enjoyable week of diving. Andy Miners is also doing great work in establishing and maintaining a large marine protected area. If one can possibly do so every diver should visit Misool at least once in their lifetime to experience healthy reefs and abundant marine life. Duane S.
