Comments An excellent place to combine romance with scuba diving. They have a large garden area with lilly ponds, trees, flowers and covered cabanas for reading in the shade.

We had a villa (room 116) with large courtyard with two private pools: one a mineral hot spring; the other a body-temperature plunge pool. The courtyard also had a large day bed with pillows in the shade and a table with an umbrella for shade and chairs. We stayed 7 nights and had a "diving package" that included two dives a day, breakfast and a very generous dinner program.

Diving is about 30 - 35 minutes away on Menjangan island, so your surface interval is onboard your day boat. You can request a third dive a day, and perhaps do the nearby mangrove bay.

The resort is a three hour drive from the airport area. Their drivers really know the roads, and make stops for you along the way. The spa is very professional and very worthwhile. All guests have access to two large swimming pools and mineral hot springs pools, in addition to those that come with the villa. So you don't have to get a villa, to enjoy the pools.

Meg heads the dive operation and is very competent. All the different dive masters are very good. Unfortunately, there is no Nitrox. The highlight of the diving was "Secret Bay" where we saw the "Blue-fin lionfish." We also enjoyed the dusk dive with the Mandarin fish in the lagoon near the resort.

The primary negative is that you cannot dive as often and as conveniently as on a live-aboard. A minor negative is the spartan "lunch" provided on the dive boat. And unfortunately, you cannot get wireless internet from your air conditioned room. We had to go to the warm outdoor hotel lobby to get internet. At 6 pm, you might be attacked by mosquitos from the lobby lilly pond. It would be nice if they could provide an indoor, air-conditioned room for checking email. They said they were planning to build such a place.

But, if you want to combine a honeymoon with diving, this place would work well. Sign up for the prepaid package including the multi-course dinner.
