Comments Much has been written about the muck diving at the Lembeh straits. However, in my opinion the muck diving at Ambon is even better!
The dive guides at Maluku diving are outstanding at finding the small stuff, and will impress you with their ability to find the crazy stuff with ease.
It's hard to list the large number of very rare things we saw in such a short time. Three different colors of rhinopias: yellow, purple and orange. A psychedelic frog fish. More leaf scorpion fish than you can imagine, flamboyant cuttlefish and so much more.
While Indonesians have decimated their marine heritage by over fishing, they haven't gotten to this gem yet.
The ocean front bungalows are nice. The garden rooms are lacking. Spring for the ocean front ones. Food is good. The dive shop is very good, and the camera room is outstanding.
The landscaping doesn't live up to its potential. The grounds are basic. You have to walk over a stretch of dirt to get from the dive jetty to the dive shop. And there is bare dirt in some area of the dive equipment area. A load of gravel would help immensely.
Oh, and the mosquitoes. Yes. There are mosquitoes. But the resort works hard to keep them under control. You get bug juice with every room. Be smart and use it.
Diving is from small boats. The ride to the dive sites are short and easy.
I heartily recommend this operation.
