Comments Outstanding service and attitude from ALL KBR employees. Great, varied food. Stayed in T1--wife, son, me; gave the adults privacy. Dives are at 8:15 a.m., 11:15 a.m. and 2:45 pm. Night dives, 6pm: need 2 divers minimum. Lots of strange critters on night dives (as well as day dives). Very few people used marker lights at night (none of the dive guides do, and it's not req'd). Also offer a Mandarin fish dive at 4:45pm. Dive sites are all 10 min or less from the resort. There is muck, sand, rubble, coral and small wall diving. Over 50 sites to dive. On the sites with walls/coral, the reef is in good shape. I would strongly recommend a "muck stick"--both for probing and for anchoring into the muck/rubble when there is a current, especially if trying to do UWP. Boats return to KBR between dives. Boats are showing cosmetic wear, but were speedy and sea worthy. Nitrox and 15L over-sized tanks available. A 3mm suit +/- a hood is fine. I would strongly recommend fingerless gloves to avoid stings from hydroids/fire coral (especially in the rubble if trying to get close to a critter). Dove 14 days at KBR, and that was enough to find just about all the strange critters on my list. Rained most of our trip (June 4-18) although it was supposed to be the "dry" season. Pool is not heated. I didn't swim, but my wife and son thought it was a bit cold. There is a "swim up" bar, but no one there to staff it. My wife greatly enjoyed the spa. There is baby-sitting available (our son is 5 yrs old) at very reasonable rates. He really enjoyed the snorkeling on the house reef. There was a special BBQ that was incredible with music, dancing. In general, a great place to go for UWP, especially if interested in macro photography and bizarre creatures. If looking for great visibility, wide angle photography (I had along a Tokina 10-17 which I never used) , beautiful sea fans, etc, then go somewhere else. Otherwise, KBR was terrific.

Enforced diving restrictions I would strongly recommend staying close to the dive guides. They are simply unbelievable at finding the critters. Due to limited visibility, it is unwise to wander off on one's own.

UW Photo Comments Cameras are placed into a rinse tank dedicated for cameras. The staff takes care of moving the camera between the boats and rinse tanks. There is a charging room for 220-110 conversion. Power is 220V. Bring converters if you charge in your room. The staff are very used to UWP's, and the dive guides are quite focused on finding the small, weird stuff (which can be frustrating for a non-photographer). There are some critters, like Harlequin shrimp, which don't move and are found EVERY dive at certain sites. Used a Nikon 60mm on D300--worked great. Never used my 105, although on a full frame this would be more workable. Never used my Tokina 10-17--just not enough visibility, even for "close focus, wide angle"
