Comments Gangga Island Resort is off the north side of North Sulawesi and takes a rather long, bumpy ride to the dock then about a 15 minute boat ride to reach. The rooms are duplex units all facing a long white sand beach. The units are need of upgrade, which is in process. The rooms are roomy with large deck porches. There is wireless internet in the main lodge but it is slow and unreliable. The meals are both buffet and ala carte; the food is plentiful and very good. The staff is very friendly and helpful. My wife's dive bag had a handle coming loose so a staff member obtained some bolts, nuts and washers from Manado for the repairs.

The dive boats are spacious with heads and lots of cover. AM dives are 2-tank; the PM dive is one tank. The dive crew is very helpful and friendly. They are also very knowledgeable regarding the dive sites and the marine life. They will make the extra effort to find unique critters to photograph. I essentially had my own dive guide, Dolfi, who was excellent.

The resort offers diving at North Sulawesi, Bangka Island, Bunaken, and Lembeh Strait. The latter 2 sites require about an hour + boat ride each way and are 3-tank trips. We had a couple of dives with a pretty stiff current but in general, the diving was slow and easy. There is a variety of dive sites -- walls, coral gardens, sandy bottom, muck.

I would definitely return to Gangga Island Resort if diving in North Sulawesi.

UW Photo Comments Superb topside camera facility with spacious work stations, battery chargers, rinse area, well lit, A/C.

The dive crew was careful with gear; rinse tanks on boats could have been larger.
