Comments Expect really good dives around Komodo as Cauldrons, Batu Bolong, Castel Rock, Cristal Rock, Tatawa Kecil or Manta point just to name a few.
Park fee is expensive though, like 15 US$ per day and has to be paid before leaving the port every morning (if land based).
Water viz is pretty good but depends on the season of course, in September the average was between 50/80 feet.
You can choose liveaboard or land based (Labuan Bajo) as the most famous dive spots are within one hour by slow boat, but if you like to dive the southern part be ready for colder water and less visibility since pacific waters entering from south bring colder stream with less viz.
Current usually is strong and is everywhere in the area sometimes unpredictible.
Overall coral is healthy and fish life also is great.
Just keep in mind that the only way to reach Labuan Bajo is flying from Bali, I flew with Garuda but others company also fly this route like Lion Air.
Labuan Bajo is one of the ugliest place in the world though ... dirty (dead rats are common on the street) and with nothing to see around, only in the evening you can find some nice places to have dinner, usually asian but also a couple of (very good) Italian restaurants as well.
3 or 4 ATM machine can provide you any cash you may need.
AmEx usually not honored but Visa and Mastercard is welcome almost anywhere (ask to Dive shop first because some of them only take cash).
